Master Plant Dieta: Traditional Amazonian Meditation Nights with Soi Bari and Akayah

Join us for a Master Plant Dieta in the rainforest of Costa Rica.

This is a Vegetalista dieta, where the intention is to deepen your connection to plant spirits, or doctores, as the Shipibo-Konibo people call them. In the dieta, you open to the healing world of plants and expand your personal healing through direct learning from these Master Plants.

The invitation is to let go of the stress, attachments and the distractions of our daily lives and enter into communion with nature and a plant teacher, while following a strict protocol.

This is a silent retreat intended for deep introspection and inner listening. By abstaining from the many distractions we all face in our day to day life, you will be able to slow down and soften into the rhythms of nature. Only when your mind is quiet and your heart is open, can you hear the subtle guidance of the plants and their inner wisdom.

Going Deeper

The dieta will consist of four traditional Amazonian meditation nights.

Each participant will be assigned a Master Plant that suits their specific needs and intentions to support their personal growth and healing.

During the 11 night stay, participants will be working with this Master Plant and have the opportunity to delve deep into the Vegetalismo practices which includes ways of cultivating a strong connection to their plant.

Under the guidance of the highly trained and experienced Maestros Soi Bari and Akayah, participants will be led into the enchanting world of plant spirit medicine, opening the door to deeper insight into oneself.

Plant dietas help us to source the roots of illness, mental and emotional difficulties and the various problems we experience in our personal, relational and professional lives. By tracing and uprooting the causes of these imbalances, we begin to liberate ourselves from that which holds us back from living a whole, happy and peaceful life.

Welcome to Brave Earth

Brave Earth, Center for Applied Cultural Transition, is a living laboratory rooted in principles of regeneration, resiliency and reciprocity. We provide immersive experiences in Nature that share alternative ways of living and being that are suitable for modernity and contextually relevant for the rapidly changing world we live in. We operate as a co-operatively run, not-for-profit education center.

Brave Earth is located between San Ramon and La Fortuna, nestled in between Arenal Volcano and the Children’s Eternal Rainforest, the largest reserve of protected wildlife in Costa Rica.

As a living lab, we have experimented with different building modalities and natural materials sourced on the land including bamboo and adobe. We have implemented biophilic design, closed-loop systems and permaculture design principles. Ornamental, food, and medicinal gardens surround the center as well as hiking trials to a nearby river, and a natural swimming pond.

Facilitators

The nights will be guided by Soi Bari and Akayah supported by Mehul and Aly Khan

Soi Bari

Soi Bari has been working with Traditional Amazonian plants for over 20 years. During this time he has trained with Shipibo Curanderos from the Amazon. His passion for integrating complementary healing modalities has been his focus for many years. Soi Bari holds a Masters in Integral Counselling Psychology, is trained as a Medical Qigong Practitioner and has a private practice as a psychotherapist.

Akayah Lynn

Akayah has long been fascinated by the intelligence of nature. The foundation of her therapeutic practice is built upon her studies of allopathic medicine and training as a Registered Nurse. Seeking to deepen that knowledge, Akayah chose to pursue therapeutic modalities that identify the root cause of the imbalances which lead to illness and other difficulties in our lives. She expanded her studies into Clinical Herbalism where she learned the foundations of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, Western and Cherokee Herbalism, while simultaneously training as an Onāya in the Shipibo-Konibo tradition of plant medicine.

Her unique approach to wellness provides an integrative and holistic framework to restore the health and vitality of the body, mind and spirit. Akayah holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, a 4 year Clinical Herbalism Certificate and has a cumulative of 2.5 years of plant dietas, including a 1-year isolation dieta apprenticing under Maestro Ricardo Amaringo and has been co-facilitating ceremonies for 8 years..

Mehul

Mehul has been working with plants for over a decade and has trained directly with indigenous teachers of the Shipibo-Konibo and the Q'ero of Peru. His particular interest is in the integration of yogic practices with the plant meditation path. He works in systems change and is currently completing his Ph.D in cultural evolution theory.

Aly Khan

Aly Khan is a co-founder of Brave Earth, which includes the Center for Applied Cultural Transition, as well as an emerging intentional community, and a regenerative farm. He spent over a decade in the finance industry and was disillusioned by the neoliberal capitalist system. He reprioritized his life to focus on being a steward of light and creating positive change. Over the last decade, Aly Khan has done extensive training with the Shipibo lineage as well as with Kriya Tantra, Ayurveda, and Authentic Relating.
