Join us for seven days of rewilding in the rainforest of Costa Rica featuring DJ and spoken word artist OVEOUS. This is a seven day gathering exploring movement, expression, community, poetry and dance. The gathering includes multiple workshops and evening events.
Rejuvenate in nature-inspired accommodations that connect you to the rainforest. Nourish with daily movement practices, farm-to-table meals, a waterfall hike and a soak in the geothermal baths. Purify and connect with the elements in a ceremonial temazcal. Expand through a variety of workshops:and activities. Learn about our community resilience network, Fuerza De Amor, and offer your service to the local community. Celebrate and dance with a cacao ceremony and a live DJ performance by OVEOUS.
Workshop Offerings:
Contextualizing the Anthropocene (with Alnoor Ladha) is an interactive session focused on unpacking the current meta-crisis, tools for staying with the trouble, and avenues for becoming more contextually relevant beings in troubled times.
The Unwritten Word (with OVEOUS and Alnoor Ladha) is a un-writing workshop focused on bringing to paper unseen aspects of our psyche. It’s a method of free-flow writing that unlocks the mytho-poetic heart of anyone, especially those who believe they are not writers.
Listening with the Mother Tree (with Yael Marantz) is a journey into the rainforest and an activation of the senses to encounter the more-than-human world and the wisdom of the Mother Tree.
Authentic Relating (with AlyKhan Ladha) is a methodology for more open, authentic, relational & non-violent communication that is used to bridge chasms of understanding and bring people into deeper relationship with themselves and their broader community.
The Way of Tea (with Maxine Shifrin) is a morning tea practice in honor of the Chao Doa “The way of Tea”. Together we delight in this ancient Chinese lineage, as a way to invoke awakened presence.

TIERRA VALIENTE
Brave Earth, Center for Applied Cultural Transition, is a living laboratory rooted in principles of regeneration, resiliency and reciprocity. We provide immersive experiences in Nature that share alternative ways of living and being that are suitable for modernity and contextually relevant for the rapidly changing world we live in.
Immerse yourself in the majesty and mystery of the rainforest. Brave Earth is located between San Ramon and La Fortuna, nestled in between Arenal Volcano and the Children’s Eternal Rainforest, the largest reserve of protected wildlife in Costa Rica.
As a living lab, we have experimented with different building modalities using AirCrete and materials sourced on the land including bamboo and adobe. We have implemented biophilic design, closed-loop systems and permaculture design principles. Ornamental, food, and medicinal gardens surround the center as well as hiking trials to a nearby river, and a natural swimming pond.
